What is a Retreat?

A lovely client suffering from stress and a painful divorce asked me this very question. I replied “what do you think you really need right now”? His reply “was for all of this to go away and to take stock of my life. I need to work out where I go from here. I am so upset I can't think straight” In fact when he did started thinking about it his list became endless.

Going on a retreat gives you that time to work through painful situations and to give your body and mind some quiet time to do just that. We live in a world where distraction and technology has become our way of life. Where is our down time to reflect and to dream and to make plans? This may lead to us feeling stressed, over worked and feeling tired all the time, add to this your job and family demands and then we can see how we may become overwhelmed. On a retreat there are no distractions just beautiful surroundings, good food and no-one pressurising you or telling you what to do. You can make the choices that suit you at the time. For some people it is about catching up with sleep or walking along the sea front, a time for reflection or just being quiet. Or it can be about the treatments that we are offer for example: Indian head massage, Reiki, massage, Yoga, EFT (a form of tapping as seen on Paul McKenna's show), or structured exercises that helps you to identify things that need or you would like to change. Many clients have made huge discoveries about themselves and their lives have changed 100% for the better and all because they gave themselves the time.

A retreat is different for everyone as we all have differing needs. At the ‘Wellness bug' we aim to help you meet those needs. We have a dedicated staff member who will be your host for the whole week so if anything arises it can be dealt with there and then.

Our retreats are not about Fasting, Meditation, Religion, or Taking a vow of Silence.
